Lancome Offers Online Product Testing
See how the makeup looks using Lancome's site
The Internet is the future. As more and more people begin using it for everyday activities like Facebook and email, they begin to take all of their shopping online. People today buy books, games, clothing and even makeup online. To accomodate these shoppers, companies need to try and provide all of the benefits of an instore visit to their web site.
Lancome is attempting to make this happen by introducing a Lancome "mirror" on their site. From lancome.com, you will be able to upload a photo of yourself and try on their various makeup sets. Through this, you can try on all sorts of Lancome cosmetics, including foundation, lip gloss, eye shadow and more. I'm not sure how this technology will work, but it gives you that experience of going into a local store for a test run, without having to leave your home.
This new feature is a great idea and it gives you the chance to explore and experiment with makeup. By using Lancome's mirror, you'll be able to find the right colors to complement your natural coloring. What's more, you can really see which products make the biggest difference in your looks. It's a great way to experiment without the pressure of feeling like you need to buy something when you get a test run done in stores.
Ultimately, this kind of innovation is what powers the market. A number of glasses sites are allowing this so you can see how you would look with different glasses. Makeup sites are only a logical succession of this. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the feature on their site yet, but I've heard that it's either out there or its getting rolled out soon. And if it's not on their agenda, I hope they start moving forward with it soon!
Overall, it's nice to see this movement to the Internet. It saves us gas and time as we no longer have to go to the store to experiment with every product. And if it cuts down on the cost of new Lancome cosmetics as they don't need to hire as many people to sell the products to you, I'm all for it. Let me know if you've found it and were able to try out the service, I'd love to know how it worked!
